Started off my 21st bday right: Went to the bar at 12:01. And while the plan was to only have a drink, it didn't quite work out that way. Big surprise. John, Alicia, Kyra and two of her friends, JewMatt and Tracy were on hand to watch me have my first legal drink. Some very nice older gentlemen were kind enough to buy me some more drinks. So all together I had 4 shooters and almost half a rum and coke in an hour and a half. (ps lemon drops are good!)
In the morning John had the most wonderful timing (made it so I didn't have to talk to my mother) and brought me carrot cake with candles in bed. Rock.
Went home, got ready for the day and then Daddy and I were off to Claim Jumpers to have lunch with all the Ruby's Crew. It meant so much to me to have them come. HillDawg, Candace, Michelle, Marcie, Stephanie, Dustin, Shawn, LacyPoo, Tyler, Dan, Meghan, and Alicia. John even came and made an appearance. Good food, good company, good drinks! Round 2: Big Shots Pool Hall in Lake Forest. My old stomping grounds. Tony's dad Ron came by to wish me a happy birthday. Bitterwsweet. Damian fro high school came too. Old school! I apparently suck at pool these days. Josh and his pretty pretty hair and Dave Goodfriend were there. Snydie showed up eventually. I always swore I would go to Big Shots on my 21st, see I can keep my word. Hooray for singing along to the jukebox like you just don't care. (2 strong screwdrivers and part of an adios)
Saw 5 accidents just on the way to Wendy's, why don't people learn how to drive in the rain. Jesus. Stopping at Wendy's we had a chance to change and regroup before heading to Das Bunker. Kaylee met us there and then we were off like a cat in the dark. Talked my way into the club for free- yeah me! It was my birthday after all. So wonderfully pleased to see Rosie as soon as we walked in the door. Pixie also came out to wish me a happy birthday, which pretty much rocks. Had a drink and then it was time to boogie! A little dancing, a lot of walking between the dance floor and the patio. Met some really cool people, Adam and Chad among them. Got all of my birthday spankings. ; ) Squeek! Perish stopped by, not for me but it still cool. One more person to wish me happy birthday. (1 screwdriver and two shots of vodka)
Didn't get home until after 5 in morning. It was worth it, everything was wonderful. Yesterday was hands down the best birthday I've ever had and it wouldn't have been possible without first off my Dad who DD all day (and well cuz without him I prob wouldn't be here) and without all of my amazing friends and family who called, texted, messaged and came out. Thank you so so much.
There has never been a year where I felt so sure of myself, so ready to face the world. I can clearly see how much I've grown in the last year. Mistakes have been made. Tears were shed. But I feel as though my life is making progress in the direction I want, on my terms. Bring it.
